Sometimes it is so nice to be outside, sipping coffee and enjoying lunch. But most of the time, it requires you surrendering a lot of dollars. Which I’m not so happy about .. Anyway, this recipe never fails me and the door is ajar as it can be, for one who wants to play a little with food. Instead of tahini, this time I served it with Avocado Lime Sauce.

serve 3-4 , as appetizer
1/2 cup dried chickpeas
2 heaping tbsp bread crumbs
1 large garlic clove
1/2 tsp baking soda
handful parsley, chopped
handful cilantro, chopped
1/2 tsp sesame seeds
1 tbsp diced onions
1/2 tsp cumin seeds, grounded
1/2 tsp paprika
- [The night before] Soak the chickpeas.
- In a food processor, mix all ingredients and process till smooth.
- In a deep fryer, warm up the oil.
- Using your hands, form 3 tsp of chickpeas mixture into a ball (or a flat disk) and drop inside. Fry till brown on all sides. Serve while it’s hot!
Note: I would suggest do a little ball of falafel, fry and taste it. Adjust the seasoning if needed before you form the rest of the balls.
